Preferred Plan & Action Plans

DATE: Saturday, April 25, 2009 Workshop 3
TIME: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
PLACE: Grand Ballroom
Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel
350 First Avenue NE
PRESENTATION INFO:

Presentation #1 will focus on the preferred framework for the area plans and specific initiatives for each plan element.  The initiatives come from the preferred plan framework and the feedback from the Neighborhood Planning Process.  The purpose of breakout #1 is to confirm the preferred plan, prioritize initiatives for each plan element (i.e. transportation & connectivity; arts & cultural opportunities; recreation & open space; business reinvestment; and housing & neighborhood character) and identify missing initiatives.

  1. What initiatives related to [Plan Element] are most important to achieving the community’s vision and why?  Are there any initiatives missing?

Presentation #2 will introduce the Action Plans.  The purpose of the breakout #2 questions is to discuss individual roles in the success of the preferred plan and begin developing action items (or steps) necessary to implement the plan.  Participants will be asked to provide key action items for each plan element (i.e. transportation & connectivity; arts & cultural opportunities; recreation & open space; business reinvestment; and housing & neighborhood character).

  1. What can you do to contribute to the success of the action plan?
  2. Can you suggest an action item for the initiatives under this plan element?
  3. Who are the key stakeholders in implementing this action item?

It is important to note that not all facilitators will ask these questions verbatim.  If you have any questions, please contact the Cedar Rapids Community Development Department at (319) 286-5067.
